LOCK HAVEN - Walter H. Packer, 88, of Flemington died Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Haven Skilled Nursing, Lock Haven. He was born September 28, 1929 in Williamsport a son of the late Arthur and Mabel (Bartley) Packer. Walter was married in Lock Haven to the former Mary L. Osborne on March 10, 1949. They celebrated 68 years of marriage together. He worked for Piper as an inspector for 32 years retiring in 1984. He enjoyed hunting and reading, especially western books. Walter served in the Navy. He is survived by his loving wife; also, a son Michael E. Packer of Lock Haven and a daughter Betty Packer of Flemington. Four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers Kenneth (Connie) Packer of Salladasburg and Charles (Wanda) Packer of Missouri and two sisters Barbara Elaine (Melvin) Geyer of Avis and Martha (Donald) Winslow of Lock Haven. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Brigitte Morgan Certified Celebrant officiating. Friends and relatives will be received from 1:30 – 2:00 at the funeral chapel. Interment will be private at Dunnstown Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society (Clinton Unit), 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
