Walter H. Joiner

TROY - Walter H. Joiner, Age 85, of Hillcrest Apartments, Troy passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Memorial Hospital, Towanda. Walt was born September 3, 1926 in Rome, PA son of the late William Ray and Sarah (Green) Joiner. He was a graduate of Rome High School Class of 1942. Walt worked Paper Magic in Troy, Swayze Box Factory in Towanda and Canton and previously worked on the farms of Bud Havens and Stewart Bristol. He was a former member of the West Franklin Mennonite Church and attended the First Baptist Church of Troy. Walt was a talented writer and had a published book titled “Vessels of Gold”. Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Harold & Donna Joiner of Troy, Alan & Sharon Joiner of Troy, Kevin Joiner of East Liverpool, OH, Brian & Sharon Joiner of Canton, five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends. Walt was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Albert Joiner, sisters, Lola Flipse, Gracie Fields, Lavilla “Billie” Hill, Ella Merrill, Juanita Bennett and Bertha Joiner. Family and friends are invited to call Thursday, January 12, 2012 from 10 to 11AM at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA. Funeral services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 11 AM with Reverend Garry Zuber of the First Baptist Church of Troy officiating. Following the service the family has invited those attending services to the First Baptist Church of Troy, 579 Canton Street for a meal and time of remembrance. Interment will follow in North Orwell Cemetery.
