RED LION- Walter G. Walker, 61, died on Friday, January 1, 2010 at his residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Red Lion with his pastor, the Reverend Dr. Charles W. Salisbury officiating. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Walker was born on September 22, 1948 in Felton, a son of the late Harry E. and Pauline (Frey) Walker. He worked as a Quality Control Inspector for General Dynamics in Red Lion for 38 years. Mr. Walker served our country for two years in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Walker's main passion was hosting exchange students. Recently, many of the students had come back to visit him once learning about his illness. The York Daily Record had recently run an article about Mr. Walker and his exchange students. He also enjoyed traveling to Europe to visit them as well. At his church, he was Treasurer and a member of the senior choir. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Mr. Walker is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Dettinger and her husband, Derric of Windsor and Abby Miller and her husband John of Jacobus; a grandchild, Anna Dettinger; 5 brothers; and 6 sisters. Preceding him in death was a sister, Mildred Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave., Red Lion, Pa 17356.
