Walter E. Reed, Jr.

Walter E. Reed, Jr. Walter E. "Wally" Reed, Jr., 78, resident of Luther Ridge, Pottsville, passed away Sunday at Luther Ridge. Born in Friedensburg, on January 25, 1929, he was the son of the late Walter E., Sr. and Cora Hain Reed. Walter was a 1948 graduate of Pottsville High School. He retired in 1994 from the Pottsville Area School District where he was a bus driver and custodian. He was an Army veteran having served during World War II. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. He was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Barton; his nephew, John R. Barton, Downingtown, PA. He is survived by his niece, Charlene E. Barton, Monroe, NY. Funeral services will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00 A.M. from the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3rd & Arch Sts., Pottsville. The Rev. Harold L. Hand, Jr. and Vicar Eric Reimer will officiate. There will be no calling hours. There will be no procession from the Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., Pottsville to the church. Interment will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, Schuylkill Unit, 16 North 4th St., Minersville, PA 17954.
