Walter E. Ness

DALLASTOWN - Walter E. Ness, 87, died on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Manor Care Health Services, Dallastown. He was the husband of the late Geraldine M. (Stauffer) Ness. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2013 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 45 First Ave, Red Lion with the Reverend Stephany Sechrist and the Reverend Lenore Hosier officiating. A visitation will be from 10:30-11 a.m. prior to the service. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born on September 28, 1925 in York Twp., he was a son of the late Harry W. and Lydia M. (Eberly) Ness. Walter was a machine operator for Lyon Metal Products and retired from David Edward as a woodworker. After retiring, he worked part time for Sure Fine Markets. Mr. Ness served our country for over two years in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Walter was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Red Lion. Mr. Ness was a member of the Victory Athletic Club and the Dallastown Legion Post #605. In his younger years, Walter pitched softball for a local softball team and enjoyed bowling. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed walking and watching the Philadelphia Phillies. Mr. Ness is survived by one daughter, Cathy L. Attig and her husband, Barry of Jacobus; one granddaughter, Carianne Bowen and her husband, Robert of York; two great granddaughters, Carly and Alexis Bowen; and one brother, Glenn Ness of Frederick, MD. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alverta Deller and a brother, Leroy Ness. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
