Walter A. Gilliland, Sr.

Walter A. Gilliland, Sr., 67, of Granville, PA, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is the loving husband of Doris L. (Bowman) Gilliland, to whom he married on November 1, 1958. The couple had 50 happy years together Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA, is in charge of arrangements. Walter was born on February 14, 1941 on Fox Town Hill in Stroudsburg, PA. He was the son of late Arthur and Cora (Slider) Gilliland. Walter was employed in the construction and textile businesses. He was an avid road hunter and fisherman. Walter is survived by his wife Doris, his sons; Walt A. (Roseanne) Gilliland, Jr. of Granville, PA and Albert H. (Ann Marie) Gilliland of Windfall, PA, his daughters; Tammy L. Gilliland of Granville, PA, Brenda L. (Scott) Vogel of Granville, PA, Cindy L. (Michael) Blake of Stroudsburg, PA, Minnie M. (Thomas) Beach of Granville Summit, PA, and Delores A. (Artie) Holdren of Granville, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brothers; George (Barb) Gilliland of Troy, PA, Arthur (Delilah) Gilliland of Colorado, David Gilliland of Clearwater, FL, his sisters; Carolyn (John) Imbt of Granville, PA and Eleanor (Robert)Werkheiser of Gillett, PA, along with several nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard Gilliland.
