RED LION - Wallace L. Brenneman, 88, died on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Country Meadows Leaders Heights. He was the husband of Doris M. (Hivner) Brenneman, who died on October 25, 2013. The couple wed on April 24, 1947. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Zion United Methodist Church, 1155 Felton Rd., Red Lion with Pastor David Kominsky officiating. A viewing will be from 1 p.m. to2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery with a flag folding ceremony provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born on April 20, 1927 in Windsor, he was a son of the late Kurvin W. and Carrie A. (Houston) Brenneman. Mr. Brenneman joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served our country during WWII. After returning home, he married Doris and joined the family retail business. He was the founder and owner of Tastysnack, Inc., which was known for chocolate, nuts, peanut butter and peanut butter swirl. These were distributed to snack manufacturers and ice cream companies across the United States. He later became the Research & Development Chocolate Consultant for Tastysnack/G&S Foods in Abbottstown until the age of 85. Wally had a great passion for his work and always provided quality products. Mr. Brenneman was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Zembo Temple Shrine, Inc., York Forest #30 and the former Lafayette Club. He was a life member of Red Lion Elks #1592 and Tall Cedars of Lebanon. Wally was a 50 year member of the Red Lion Masonic Lodge #649 F. & A. M. and a member of the Harrisburg Consistory 32nd Degree. Mr. Brenneman was a founding contributor to the US Flight 93 National Memorial and enjoyed contributing to St Jude Children’s Hospital to help children. He was a kind and generous man with a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people smile. Mr. Brenneman is survived by one step daughter, Cheryle Rost of Red Lion; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and one sister. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 1155 Felton Rd., Red Lion, PA 17356 or the Red Lion Historical Society, 10 E. Broadway, Red Lion, PA 17356.
