Glen Rock - Wallace H. Wert Jr., 76, died Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Manor Care Health Services-Dallastown. He was the husband of Mary A. (Husson) Wert to whom he was married for 20 years. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at Life Tributes by Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion with the Rev. Margie Smith, Chaplain with Heartland Hospice, officiating. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, and from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral chapel. Mr. Wert was born January 3, 1931, in Dallastown, a son of the late Grace L. (King) and Wallace H. Wert Sr. He was employed with York International for 35 years as a Shipping Clerk and a member of the York International 25 year club. A United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was also a member of York Moose Lodge, Viking Athletic Assoc., and Prince Club. In addition to his wife, Mr. Wert is also survived by three sons, Bryan Wert of York, Sheldon Wert and his companion, Colleen Hearn of Shiloh and Donald Wert and his fianc裬 Lynn Zarfos of York; six daughters, Lucille Smeigh and her husband, Jeffery, Irene Speer and her husband, Elmer, Crystal Himes and her husband, Donald Sr., Melissa Martz and her husband, Brian, all of York, Tina Dowling and her husband, Michael of St. Petersburg, Fla., Rae Tulley and her husband, Ray of Reading, and stepdaughter, Ronda Zink and her husband, Edward Jr., of Hanover; 17 grandchildren, two step grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Wert and Wayne Wert both of Calif.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one step grandson, Bradley Speer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 2600 Eastern Blvd, Suite 209, York, PA 17402; or to American Diabetes Assoc., 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 101, Harrisburg, Pa 17110.
