Vonny R. Mcclain

Brogue—Vonny R. (Saylor) McClain, 87, passed away Saturday, January 06, 2024 at her residence in Lower Chanceford Township. She was the wife of the late Larry D. McClain to whom she was married for 57 years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:30PM, Friday January 12, 2024 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jason Keenan of Gorham Baptist Church in Brogue. A viewing will be held from 12:30 – 1:30PM, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

Born June 11, 1936 in Brogue, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Fannie Mae (Fisher) Saylor.

She was a loving and caring homemaker, who loved being around her family and adored her cats. An avid gardener, she enjoyed planting flowers and canning vegetables from her vegetable garden. She would pass the time crocheting and quilting and enjoyed spending time at Corn Hill Fishing & Hunting Club.

Mrs. McClain is survived by three daughters, Sharon Scantling and husband, Harry, Shelva McCallister and husband, Roger and Sheila Cornelius; four grandchildren, Shantay Scantling, Maria Cornelius and boyfriend, Gilmar Montenegro, Ty Cornelius Jr., and wife, Elizabeth and Dalton Scantling; two brothers, John Saylor and Butch Saylor; two sisters, Nonnie Morgan and Daisy Siders and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Saylor Jr., and Jerome Saylor; one sister, Alma Kohler; grandparents, Lillian Daisy and John Clifford Fisher and by the partner of Shelia Cornelius, Edward Ettinger.
