Virginia N. Mcsherry

YORK- Virginia (Newcomb) McSherry, 76, of Springettsbury Township, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Bobby J. McSherry. The couple celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary on April 18, 2016. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Certified Celebrant Brigitte Morgan will be officiating at the service. Mrs. McSherry was born in Green Bay, VA on October 22, 1939, the daughter of the late Richard C. and M. Lena (Nelson) Newcomb. She retired after 19 years as a real estate agent for Century 21, Dale Realty Company in York. Prior to that, she was the owner and operator of Jenny’s Clover Patch, children’s clothing stores in Queensgate Shopping Center in York and Willow Valley Shopping Center in Lancaster. Mrs. McSherry was a 1958 graduate of King William High School in King William, VA, where she was a cheerleader, along with her life-long best friend, Valgene Davenport. She reached the Million Dollar Club in real estate sales and enjoyed watching sports, especially golf, football, and the Olympics. Along with her husband, Mrs. McSherry leaves a daughter, Tracey McSherry of York; three grandchildren, Isaac McSherry of Ruckersville, VA, Delaney Boylan and Finley Boylan, both of York; a brother, Steven Newcomb and his wife Pat of Aylett, VA; a daughter-in-law, Chanowan McSherry, brother-in-law, Ronnie Floyd; and sister-in-law Laura Lee Newcomb. She was preceded in death by a son, Perry McSherry in 2014, a sister, Jean Floyd, and a brother, James Newcomb.
