Virginia L. Nameck

YORK - Virginia L. (Ela) Nameck, 83, of Country Meadows at Leader Heights and formerly of Red Lion, died at 2:44 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2007 at the York Hospital. She was the wife of John W. Nameck with whom she celebrated a 62nd wedding anniversary on May 10, 2007. Following cremation, private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Nameck was born October 28, 1924, in Qunicy, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Percy W. and Helen B. (Smith) Ela. She was a graduate of the Woodward School for Girls in Qunicy and worked in the business office of Mervyn's Department Store in San Lorenzo, California for 9 years. She later worked in the banking industry for more than 25 years in Florida, South Carolina and Pennsylvania. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Red Lion and enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Nameck leaves her daughter, Nancy L. McCleary and husband, Keith, of Red Lion; her son, Kenneth J. Nameck and wife, Veronica "Ronnie", of Bensalem; two grandchildren, Jessica Stevens of Lake Forrest, Calif., Ryan McCleary of Red Lion; a great granddaughter, Shelby; and a brother, Richard C. Ela of Mount Vernon, New Hampshire. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ian K. McCleary on December 23, 1993 and a brother, William Ela.
