Virginia L. (Morton) Markey

YORK- Virginia L. (Morton) Markey, 85, died on Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Rest Haven Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was the loving wife of the late Dale Markey, who passed away on June 27, 1994. The couple had been wed for 50 years. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010, in the Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, 225 E. Market St., York with Reverend Dr. John E. Morgan officiating. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens immediately following the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Markey was born on December 4, 1924, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Carolyn (Kyle) Morton. Virginia worked as a homemaker. Mrs. Markey enjoyed gardening and decorating. Most importantly, her family came first. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Markey is survived by a son, Dr. Scott S. Markey, and his wife, Sherrie of York; two grandsons, Thomas Markey and Ross Markey; a brother, William H. Morton and his wife, Fran of Dallastown; two nephews, William Ashbaugh and William Morton; four nieces, Debbie Hershey, Sandy Swords, Carolyn Butera and Lori Kauffman; and a cousin, Doris Heindel. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Morton; and a sister Carolyn Ashbaugh.
