BEECH CREEK - Virginia “Ginney” Stacey, 61, passed on peacefully at her home in Beech Creek, Friday, October 4th surrounded by her husband and 5 daughters. After beating breast cancer in 2008, a new battle with stage 4 colon cancer began. Ginney fought valiantly for 2 years with her strong will to live, her faith in GOD and the support of her family. Ginney was born to Blair and Margaret Burk in Altoona, PA on November 20th 1951. She was raised with 3 sisters, Vicki Moyer, Patty Everett and Donna Baker as well as her brother Blair “bud” Burk Jr. After graduating from Altoona High School in 1969, Ginney married her soul mate, Robert Stacey, on August 1st, 1970. Together they raised 5 daughters, Kim Stacey of Nisbet, PA, Tammy Prentiss of Lock Haven, PA, Bobbi Jo Hummel, wife of Brian Hummel of Beech Creek, PA and twins Jennifer Glossner, wife of Brad Glossner of Beech Creek, PA and Jamie Stacey of Mill Hall, PA. She is blessed with 18 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Ginney is known by many for the love of her family. Ginney retires from Lock Haven University after 23 years where she was employed as head secretary of maintenance. She also earned her degree in business from Lock Haven University at the age of 55. Ginney enjoyed crocheting, collecting angels and Betty Boop and spoiling her bulldogs, Jersey and Gidget. Ginney was preceded in death by a grandson Devin Stacey of Beech Creek, a nephew Brian Stacey and Tommy Stacey. Her mother-in-law, Florence Stacey and her father-in-law, Joseph Stacey. She is survived by her parents, her siblings, her husband and daughters. Family and friends will be received at the Blanchard Church of Christ on Tuesday, October 8th 2013 from 1pm to 4pm . A memorial will begin at 4pm with the grave side service to follow at the Schencks Cemetery in Howard, PA where she will be laid to rest. A dinner reception will be served at the Blanchard Church of Christ following the services. Helt Funeral Chapel, Mill Hall has charge of arrangements.
