TROY, PA - Virginia B. (Brown) Thomas, Age 78 of Route 14 Troy, PA passed away Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Virginia was born June 18, 1935 in Granville, PA daughter of the late John & Vivian (Duart) Brown. She was a graduate of Troy High School and was married to Richard C. Thomas on July 29, 1967 celebrating 46 years of marriage. Family and friends are invited to call Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM and again on Monday, September 23 from 10 to 11 AM at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA. Her service will be held following calling hours at 11 AM at the funeral home with Reverend Shelia Core of the Alba First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Alba Cemetery. Virginia and Richard have operated their family dairy farm on Route 14 for many years. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother who had always been there for her family. She was a member of the Alba First Christian Church, Christian Women’s Fellowship and was the long time Secretary/Treasurer of the Alba Cemetery Association. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting afghans and quilting. Survivors include her loving husband Richard C. Thomas of Troy, son and daughter-in-law, Roy & Robin Thomas of Troy, two daughters and sons-in-law, Darcy & Charles Hamm of Raleigh, NC, Robin & Thomas Degenfelder of Cattaraugus, NY, grandchildren, Matthew and Abbigail Thomas, Justin and Jason Dagenfelder, step-grandson, Kurtis Page a brother and sister-in-law, Delbert & Lucy Brown of Granville, Summit, sisters and brother-in-law, Loretta & Richard Gustin of Troy, Martha White of Troy, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials in Virginia’s memory may be made to the Alba Cemetery Association or to the First Christian Church of Alba.
