WILLIAMSPORT - Virgil A. Dunkleberger, 83, died Wednesday, November 05, 2014 at The Gatehouse, Williamsport. He was born on October 20, 1931 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Clarence E. and Eliza E. (Roller) Dunkleberger. Virgil was a graduate of Williamsport High School Class of 1950. After school Virgil went on and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. On January 11, 1958 Virgil married the former Patricia A. Caputo who survives and they celebrated 56 years of marriage together this year. Virgil was a member and had been baptized in the Bethel Linden Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run Road. He worked for 35 years for Flexer Amusement Co. of Williamsport as a vending machine repairman and retired in 1990. He enjoyed reading, gardening, hunting, country music, being outside but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his wife Patricia, Virgil is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Daryl and Jenifer Dunkleberger of Naples, FL, three daughters and sons-in-law; Cheryl and Kevin Eckert of Williamsport, Shelly and Tim Thomke of South Williamsport and Jaime and Michael Falat of Williamsport, 11 grandchildren; Jocelyn, Jynelle, Terra (Eddie), Chad (Sara), Adam (Katie), Nicole (Jerald), Miah, Jacob, Samuel, Benjamin and Noah, five great grandchildren; Deidra, Chase, Khyla, Rowan and Cecilia, four brothers and three sisters-in-law; Dalton and Linda Dunkleberger of Palmyra, Gordon and Billie Dunkleberger of Texas, Delroy Dunkleberger of Unityville and Gary and Cindi Dunkleberger of Williamsport, two sisters and brothers-in-law; Donna and Mark Sullivan and Janet and Ray Walters all of Williamsport. In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by three brothers; Eldon, Gerald and Laverne and one sister; Thelma Douglass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Gatehouse, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701 or to Bethel Linden Presbyterian Church, 2758 Bottle Run Road, Williamsport, PA 17701. A memorial service will take place at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, November 09, 2014 at the Bethel Linden Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run Road with Pastor Lisa Dabney officiating. Burial will take place privately in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery with military honors. Arrangements are being handled by Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport.
