Violet Marie (Overacker) Shell

TROY-Violet Marie (Overacker) Shell, 86, of Troy, PA passed away peacefully on Monday, July 30, 2007 at the Troy Community Hospital. She was the wife of the late George M. Shell who passed away on December 21, 1997. Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in Harkness Cemetery. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA 16947 has been entrusted with the arrangements. Violet was born June 11, 1921 in Big Pond, PA. She was the daughter of the late George W. and Minerva (Wilcox) Overacker. Violet was a 1941 graduate of Troy High School, and is a member of the Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church. She helped her husband George on the family farm and was a homemaker. Survivors include Violet's daughters: Faith E. Wittig of Troy, PA, Sherry L. (Sidney) Sinclair of Wellsboro, PA, and Susan E. (Carl) Vanderpool of Paxinos, PA, her grandchildren: Sargent John T. Butcher, Douglas (Joanne) Wittig, Tracey Wittig, Lynne (Mark) Heckrotte, Daniel Wittig, Kimberly (David) Porter, Lance Corporal Ryan Vanderpool, and Cammy (Tom) Carman, her great grandchildren: Jessica and Yvonne Wittig, Jackson and Jamison Heckrotte, Michael Counterman, Sarah and Zeb Yale, Dominic and Terence Carman, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents, and husband George, and infant daughter Mary Alice Shell preceded Violet in death. Memorials are directed to the charity of one's own choosing.
