Violet Hills Rankin

NORTH BEND – Violet Hills Rankin, 93, of North Bend, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of the late Harry Smith Rankin who died on August 8, 2003. The couple shared 61 years of marriage together. Born June 6, 1923 in Renovo, Violet was the daughter of the late Edward A. and Cecile M. (Smith) Hills. She attended the North Bend United Methodist Church. She was a past matron of the Eastern Star and a member of the Chapman Township Fire Hall Ladies Auxiliary. Violet is survived by her daughter, Linda K. Rossell and husband, Charles of North Bend; five grandchildren, Tim Rossell of North Bend, Kari Kepler and husband, Josh of Renovo, Amanda Edwards and husband, Collins of Maryland, Lee Rankin of New York, and Eric Rankin of Virginia; four great grandchildren, Cameron Rossell, Brook Kepler, Charly Kepler, and Raegan Edwards; and sister, Patricia Lundfelt of North Bend. In addition to her beloved husband, Violet was preceded in death by her son, Harry L. Rankin; four brothers, Edward Hills, Oliver Hills, Harvey Hills, and Merille Hills; and sister, June Hills DeJoice. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at North Bend Cemetery. Martha Sykes will be officiating. A memorial luncheon will immediately follow the service at Sons of Italy, 111 12th St. in Renovo. Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, in Renovo is in charge of arrangements.
