YORK - Viola L. Aldinger, 97, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2012 at Country Meadows on Trolley Rd. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, with Pastor Tracy Conner officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Jacobs Union Cemetery in York New Salem. Born on June 1, 1914, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Nancy L. (Beck) Aldinger. Viola was a 1933 graduate of West York High School. She began working at Green’s Dairy, later worked for Naval Ordnance/York Safe & Lock and retired from PPL in 1979 after 21 years. Ms. Aldinger was a member of St. Jacobs United Church of Christ. She volunteered for the American Red Cross for over 20 years and was a member of the York Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. Viola loved riding horses, traveling, especially to Atlantic City to play the slots, playing cards and bingo, and candy. She was famous for her fudge. Viola especially looked forward to her family reunions and holiday get-togethers. To those who knew her best, she was affectionately called Aunt Vi. She will be sadly missed by Sandra, Paul, Beth, Don, Amy, Matt, Doug, Julie, Bill and many more nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. Thank you to all the nurses and staff who loved and cared for Aunt Vi during the ten years she lived at Country Meadows. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jacobs U.C.C, P.O.
