Vinoda (Desai) Jethwa

YORK – Vinoda (Desai) Jethwa passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Manor Care North. She was the wife of Vasant H. Jethwa to whom she happily married in 1971. Born January 29, 1933 in Nadiad (Gujarat State) India, she came to the USA as a student in 1960 and graduated from University of MD School of Social Work. After completing her MSW, she got a job with Crispus Attucks Assoc. In 1965 she joined Hoffman Home for Youth in Littlestown where she worked as a Psychotherapist until her retirement in 1998. While in York, she met her husband Vasant H. Jethwa who also came as a student from Diu, India. After graduating with his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell Univ. in Lewisburg, PA, Vasant worked for York Div. of Borg Warner Corp. and now a division of Johnson Controls. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one brother, Matilal Desai of York; and many nieces and nephews living in surrounding areas. The viewing and cremation service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HARI Temple, 301 Steigerwalt Hollow Road, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
