Victor A. Young

Red Lion- Victor A. Young, 88, of Red Lion, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Lola Young to whom he was married for 66 years. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Services are private. He was born in Queen Junction, Pa., the son of the late Dr. Clinton and Cora (Faith) Young. He retired from Caterpillar in 1982 after 16 years of work in the metallurgy lab. Mr. Young graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Forestry. He was an avid Genealogist, composing numerous genealogical publications including Schaefer and Weible Genealogies. Victor volunteered at the LDS family history center in York. He also enjoyed collecting coins and stamps. Mr. Young served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He received five bronze stars; Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe and Ardennes. He served overseas in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He was in ordinance maintenance and was a draftsman and medic for 1st army traffic headquarters. Along with his wife, Victor is survived by two sons, Dr. Michael B. Young and his wife Marcia of Bloomington, Illinois, and David C. Young and his wife Rosemarie of Boston, Mass.; two daughters, Catherine D. Diehl and her husband David of Jacobus, and C. Maureen Anderson and her husband Dexter of Newtown, Conn.; three grandchildren, Heather (Young) Hannon and her husband Craig of Richmond, VA., Alison (Diehl) Renner and husband Tim of Glen Rock, and Sarah (Diehl) Grady and her husband Chris of Kensington, MD.; seven great grandchildren, Isaac, Annelise, Linus & Elliott Hannon, Gideon and Ursula Renner, and Eva Grady.
