Vera May (Goodman) Specht

Vera May (Goodman) Specht, 93 of Lewisburg, died Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg. She was born on January 03, 1921 in Montandon and was the daughter of the late Earl M. and Altha May (Horner) Goodman. On November 04, 1945 she married the late Ralph R. Specht and they celebrated 58 years of marriage together until his death on February 04, 2003 She graduated from Montandon High School class of 1939 and then went on to attend business school. Vera worked for Mary Chapman and Scott and then for Chef-boy-Ardi as an office manager until she retired in 1955. Vera was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Milton, the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a past member of the Moose Club Ladies Organization. She enjoyed gardening, pets, reading, watching TV and cooking. Vera is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Jeffrey W. and Diane H. Specht of Milton, one granddaughter; Abagail L. Erdley of Lewisburg, one brother-in-law; Melvin Specht of Maryland and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Vera was preceded in death by an infant brother and one sister; Lois Brown of Montandon. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of America, 71 N. Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time at the convenience of the family. All arrangements are being handled by The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton, PA 17847.
