YORK – Velna (Worrell) Hoke, 91, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011. She was the wife of the late Clair E. Hoke. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2011at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with The Rev. Helen Osborne presiding. A viewing will be held from 9-10 a.m. at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Suburban Memorial Gardens. Born February 28, 1920 in Spray, NC; a daughter of the late Ennis and Alminda (Puckett) Worrell, she had retired from Danskin, Inc. after 35 years of service. Velna enjoyed being a seamstress and often made her own clothing. Mrs. Hoke is survived by three sons, Emanuel E. and wife Nance Bingaman of Maple Grove, Minn., Robert E. and wife Sally Bingaman of Lancaster, and Jeffrey L. and wife Cindy Hoke of York; six grandchildren, Scott Lavine, Erick Bingaman, Mathias Bingaman, Richard Bingaman, Kathy Sneddon and Todd Strickler; 14 great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; and her two very close nieces, Elie Deurr and Linda Yakacki. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony and Rufus Worrell; and two sisters, Essie Nester and Lola Shue Johnson.
