MECHANICSBURG- Vance Oren Anderson, 94, entered into the presence of the Lord on June 26, 2011 at Messiah Village, where he resided for 11 years, but resided for most of his life in Fairview Twp. He was the husband of the late Viola Mae Zeigler Anderson. The couple had been married for over 44 years. Mr. Anderson was born on November 27, 1916 in Lisburn, a son of the late Robert and Alverna (Fencil) Anderson. Vance was the youngest and sole survivor of 11 children. He was self employed in home construction. He was known for building well constructed homes of which the vast majority of craftsmanship was provided by his own hands. He was a man with a strong faith in God, hard work, and integrity. He attributed his Christian beliefs to his mother, whom he held in the highest esteem. He prayed and read the Bible daily and often stated that it was only his Bible and God that enabled him to cope with the stresses of life. Mr. Anderson was a longtime member of the Mechanicsburg BIC Church where he served as a board member, steward and Sunday School teacher. Vance is survived by five sons; Dean and his wife, Linda; Dennis and his wife Corinne; Dale; David and his wife Janet and Doyle and his wife, Stephanie; seven grandchildren, David, Mark and Joshua; Joshua and Kristin; and Jennifer and Jeremy; four great grandchildren; Mendolia, Bennett, Everley, and Samantha; and various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Messiah Village BIC Church, 100 Mount Allen Dr., Mechanicsburg, with the Reverend Ronald R. Slabaugh officiating. A viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at Cross Roads Cemetery. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, 305 W. Front St., Lewisberry, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Messiah Village Benevolence Fund, 100 Mt. Allen Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055 or C.R.O.S.S. (Christian Residential Opportunities and Social Services) 712 Pinola Rd., Shippensburg, PA 17257.
