Van James Lewis,I

YORK-Van James Lewis, I, 66, passed away March 29, 2022 at UPMC Memorial Hospital in York. He was the husband of the late Alita (Rohrbaugh) Lewis, who passed away April 1, 2022. The couple had celebrated their 33rd wedding anniversary on September 10, 2021. A celebration of life service will be held for Van and Alita at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The service can be viewed live by searching Van's obituary at heffnercare.com. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery in York. Mr. Lewis was born in York on February 18, 1956, the son of the late Edward and Blanche (Miller) Lewis. He retired from Harley Davidson, where he was a maintenance supervisor for 35 years. He then went on to become the Union President for Syncreon and was the owner of Lewis Piano Movers. Van enjoyed baseball and helped coach, when his children were younger. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing at his cabin in Blair County and was an avid card player. One thing Van was known for, was he could always be found with a bottle of hot sauce. Van leaves four sons, Van J. Lewis, II and his wife Tanaya, James Lewis and his wife Michelle, Bradley Lewis and his wife Casey Emig, and Lance Lewis; a stepson, Daniel J. “DJ” Bange, III and his significant other Hayley Axsom; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Kayla, Mason, Channing, Jordan, John, and Lillian. He also leaves a brother Edward Lewis. He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Jan Lewis. Send condolences at Heffnercare.com
