Valencia S. Wiley

YORK, PA - Valencia S. “Val” (Skocik) Wiley, 90, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ralph J. Wiley. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, December 15, 2017 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Pastor Don Wolabaugh officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Born April 11, 1927 in Mt. Carmel, Northumberland Co., a daughter of the late Bartholomew and Maria F. (Stavik) Skocik, she retired from New Cumberland Army Depot. During her husband’s Air Force career, Val enjoyed writing articles for the various military base newspapers. She also loved playing bingo. Mrs. Wiley is survived by two sons, Michael R. and wife Michelle Wiley of York and Calvin M. and wife Brenda Wiley of Dover, PA; two daughters, Geraldine A. Kopp of Shortsville, NY and Robin A. and husband Daniel Hoff of Emigsville, PA; ten grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; and her companion tortoiseshell cat “Cleo.” Val was the last descendant of the Skocik family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boys Town, 200 Flanagan Boulevard, PO Box 8000, Boys Town, NE 68010 or to March of Dimes Foundation, 2649 Carnegie Rd., York, PA 17402.
