Lewisberry—Valeda J. (Winter) Hughes, 90, died Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Brethren Home @ Cross Keys Village. She was the wife of the late Elwood Hughes. A Celebration of Life Service will be 7PM, Friday, November 4, 2016 at Parkville Bible Church, 800 Whisler Rd, Etters with the Rev. Donald Winter and the Rev. Andrew Grate officiating. A viewing will be held from 5-7PM, Friday at church. Burial will be in Parkville Cemetery. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 W. Front Street, Lewisberry is in charge of arrangements. Born October 29, 1926 in New Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Gordon H. and Lillian (Anderson) Winter. A loving homemaker to her husband and family, she enjoyed reading, puzzles and playing her piano and organ. Valeda was a member of Parkville Bible Church where she was the church secretary /treasurer and organist for many years. In addition she was also the Librarian at Parkville Christian Academy. Mrs. Hughes is survived by two sons, Bradford K. McClintock of Guntersville, AL and Charles E. McClintock of Florida; four daughters, Connie L. Whitson of San Diego, CA, Dorothy L. Rickrode of Littlestown, Aloma F. Strait of Chambersburg and Faith A. Perdue of Virginia Beach, Va; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald P. Winter of Summerfield, Fl and Daniel J. Winter of Berrysburg; one sister, Dorothy C. Witter of New Oxford and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Elwood A. Hughes.
