DOVER - Vada D. (Swanger) Slaseman, 83, died on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Earl W. Slaseman. The couple had been married for over 54 years. A celebration of life service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, with Pastor David H. Robinson officiating. A visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Born on January 25, 1930 in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Evelyn (Knisely) Swanger. Vada was a housewife. Mrs. Slaseman attended West Shore Senior Center where she enjoyed playing pinochle and dominos and socializing with everyone. Vada also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, bingo, camping and watching horror movies. Mrs. Slaseman is survived by two sons, Erroyl W. Slaseman and his wife, Janice of Lynchburg, VA and Eric L. Slaseman and his wife, Carol of Camp Hill; one daughter, Vada M. Sharwarko and her husband, Donald of York; four grandsons; one brother, William Swanger of Dillsburg; one sister, Mary Perkins and her husband, Jack of Wormleysburg; and many nieces and nephews.
