Truman "Chuck" Kling, Jr.

YORK – Truman “Chuck” Kling, Jr., 77, died Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Darlene E. (Reiss) Kling to whom he was married for 22 years.


Born August 16, 1945 in Portland, OR, a son of the late Truman C. and Mildred U. (Lowe) Kling; he was a 1963 graduate of York Suburban High School and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology. Mr. Kling was a US Marine Corps veteran of The Vietnam War. He then began his 40-year career in computer software development, having worked for McCrory Corp., Software Review Corp., Bickel’s Potato Chip Co., and was self-employed for over 20 years. Chuck enjoyed bird watching and nature-oriented travel. He was a member and volunteer for York County Parks and York Audubon Society. Chuck also enjoyed watching Penn State football, Duke basketball, and his travels to Jamaica.


In addition to his wife, Mr. Kling was like a father to Todd Zuckerman and his wife Julie Styskin, and Mindi and husband Matt Haines; grandfather to Marc and Sam Zuckerman, and Caden and Zoe Haines; uncle to Lisa and husband Rich Lake, and Mike McMullen; and great uncle to Riley and Jake Boike; as well as friends to many with his quiet but friendly nature. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie L. McMullen.


Tribute Services will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.
