WILLIAMSPORT- Trina Pearlman Harrison, 88, of Williamsport, passed away Saturday May 16, 2009. Trina was born the day after her mother arrived on Ellis Island, September 26, 1920. She is the daughter of the late Samuel and Ethel Shillingofsky Pearlman and grew up in Steubenville, OH with her three brothers, Sidney, Myer, and Abe, all now deceased. Trina graduated from Steubenville High School in 1938 and then went on to graduate from Ohio State University. While in Steubenville she worked at her parent's fruit market, The Farmers Exchange, on Market Street and later went on to teach. Trina first met her husband, Arthur Harrison, New Years Eve 1959 and they were married 80 days later on the first day of spring, March 20th, 1960. Trina is survived by her daughter, Sara (Ann) Harrison Johnston, Sara's husband Charles, and four grandsons, Simon, Pierce, Ethan and Dean. Trina felt that philanthropy should be a very important part of every person's life. She was involved in the Jewish community and supported the local synagogue, Ohev Sholom, where she served on the board of directors. She was also a member of Hadassah, where she was a past president and a life member and she was involved in Sisterhood and Jewish Federation. She and Arthur also supported the Williamsport Hospital and other community philanthropies. She and Arthur also took great pride in supporting the Jewish Home in Scranton, Pa where she served as a volunteer and a board member. A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 18 at 1 PM at the Ohev Sholom Cemetery with her spiritual leader, Rabbi Mac Portal, officiating. In keeping with Jewish tradition there will be no flowers. The family has entrusted the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, Inc. 331 Elmira Street, Williamsport, PA with the funeral arrangements. Contributions may be made in Trina's memory to the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, 1101 Vine Street, Scranton, PA, 18510.
