Treva R. (Spangler) Markey, 95, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Normandie Ridge. She was the wife of the late Dwight R. Markey to whom she was married for 68 years until his passing on December 24, 2020. Services for Treva will be private at New Fairview Church of the Brethren with burial in the church cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on HeffnerCare.com by searching Treva’s obituary page at about 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2022. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born on June 11, 1927 in York, she was a daughter of the late Cornelius and Elizabeth (Krape) Spangler. Treva was an LPN at Memorial Hospital from 1952 until her retirement in 1994. She and her husband had flower and produce stands at The New Eastern Market and Central Market for 50 years. Mrs. Markey was very active at New Fairview Church of the Brethren where she was a member since 1941 and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the Christian Business & Professional Women’s Association. She volunteered from 1973-2018 at Cross Keys Village where she was part of the Founder’s Club and served on the board. She enjoyed volunteering at White Rose Hospice, rocking babies at the York Hospital NICU and worldwide travel with her husband. Mrs. Markey leaves three daughters, Donna Jean Bortner and her husband, Jeffrey of York, Carol Ann Hensel and her husband, Gary of York and Bonnie Lou Mattas and her husband, David of York; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and brother in law, Dale Markey of York.
