York- On May 31, 2015, Tracey Susan Jenkins, 59 departed this life after battling a rare form of Melanoma. She passed peacefully in the comfort of her sister’s home with her daughter and son by by her side. Born on January 17, 1956 in York, she was the daughter of Robert W. and Jean A. (Dowell) Jenkins aka “GiGi”. She graduated from the Nursing Program at York Vo-tech and achieved her goal of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. Her nursing career began at York Hospital and for the past 10 years she had been employed at General Dynamics Information Technology as a Medical Record Abstractor. Tracey is survived by her son, Adam Smith of Safety Harbor, FL; daughter Molly Smith also of Safety Harbor, FL., and two cherished grandchildren, Alana and Lily who loved their ” Nona” dearly. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Glenn L. Smith. She was born the second of four children. Her surviving siblings include two brothers, Robert L. Jenkins and his wife Terrie of Honeybrook, PA, James A. Jenkins of Thomasville, PA, and a sister, Rebecca A. Jenkins of York. Ms. Jenkins was a member of the Athletic Club of York. She also had a special knack for gardening and enjoyed reading and bike riding. A lifetime of happy memories were created at the family cabin in Pine Grove Furnace, Pa. Tracey was adored and dear to the hearts of her extended relatives, Raejeanne “Nana” Smith and all family. Services will be provided by Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2015 following a 6-7:00 visitation. William Schmid, M.Div will be officiating the service.
