Thomas R. Griffiths, 74 of Bristow, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 16, 2012 at the family cabin in Bear Creek Village, Bear Creek. Born in Wilkes-Barre on February 18, 1938, he was a son of the late John and Marjorie (Cooper) Griffiths. He was a graduate of G.A.R High School and Wilkes College. Thomas was employed as a computer analyst by the Department of Defense at the Pentagon before retiring in 1994. He was a member of Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, Springfield, Virginia. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was a very devoted grandfather to his 4 grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Douglas T. Griffiths, St. Louis, MO; daughters Kimberly Thoureen and her husband, Chris, Denver, CO; Kerri B. Ralston and her husband, Jeff, Bristow, VA; grandchildren Hailey, Hunter, Justin and Ryan; a brother, John Griffiths, Alexandria, VA. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, July 23, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at First Welsh Presbyterian Church, 74 S. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Reverend Rebecca Tanner, pastor of Ashley Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Mount Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
