Thomas N. Quickel

YORK - Thomas N. Quickel, 85, of Springettsbury Township, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Doris E. (Miller) Quickel. The couple celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary on June 25, 2014. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday March 13, 2015 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion, with a visitation from 1-2 p.m. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Committal service will be private at Mount Rose Cemetery following the service. Mr. Quickel was born in York on February 18, 1930, the son of the late John A. and Bessie E. (Melhorn) Quickel. He retired as a supervisor in 1992 from Dentsply International, Inc. in York after 44 years of service. Thomas was a member of the Dentsply 25 Year Club. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting with his family and friends. Along with his wife, Mr. Quickel leaves four sons, Thomas N. Quickel, Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Loveland, OH, Ronald S. Quickel and his wife Colleen of Fresno, CA, William W. Quickel and his companion, Rose Hirata of Kapaau, HI, and Michael E. Miller and his wife Stacy of York; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a brother, Philip E. Quickel of Shelton, CT; and a sister, Isobel J. Weaver of York; and nieces and nephews. Four brothers, Kermit M., James D., Joseph R., and John A. Quickel; and a sister, Nancy Spangler had preceded him in death.
