Thomas M. Clifford, Sr.

PITTSTON-Thomas Clifford Sr., 77, of Maple Lane, Pittston, died Tuesday, April 3, 2007 in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Avoca on June 13, 1929, he was the son of the late Mark and Charlotte (Legg) Clifford. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston, and Keystone Carpenters Union Local 514. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Clifford was employed as a carpenter by local contractors and then later became self-employed. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Shirley Mack, and brothers, Mark Clifford, Eugene "Bruss" Clifford, Joe Clifford and John "Dooney" Clifford. He is survived by his son, Tom Clifford, Jr., Pittston; daughter Carol Busch, Laurel Run; grandchildren, Christine, Jody and Michael; great grandchildren Jacob and Ava; brothers, David Clifford and Robert "Tiny" Clifford, both of Avoca; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 a.m. from the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca, with a Funeral Service with Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. The Reverend Edward Michelini will officiate. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery, Pittston. Friends may call Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
