Thomas A. Mitchell

SAYRE- Thomas A. Mitchell, 73, of Troy, PA passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Family and friends are welcome to call from 4:00-5:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 1093 West Main Street Troy, PA. The memorial service to honor Toms life will be held at 5:00 PM on Friday, May 13th at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Tom was born on February 28, 1938 in Canton, PA, son of the late Henry K. and Alberta (Vandiver) Mitchell, Jr. He was a lifelong resident of Troy, was a 1956 graduate of Troy High School, and worked for many years at Jims Chevron in Troy. Tom was a member of the Troy Vets Club and the Morris Run American Legion, the Hillside Rod & Gun Club and the Columbia Cross Roads Hunting Camp, the Loyal Order of Moose in Canton, PA, the Armenia Mountain Snowmobile Club, and was a board member and trustee of the Oak Hill Cemetery Association. Tom is survived by his children: Annette (Rocky) Spencer of East Troy, PA, Michael (Lori) Mitchell of Anchorage, AK, and Mark (Diane) Mitchell of Bellefonte, PA, grandchildren: Carmen (Nathan) Keller, Brenda (Bryan) Wack, Nicholas (Jamie Lee) Mitchell, Christopher Mitchell, Shane Mitchell, Corinne Leigh Coffey, and Skyler Thomas Coffey, his 6 great grandchildren, his siblings: Martha Biehle of Mason, OH, H. Kent Mitchell, III of Athens, PA, and Florence Powell of Brushton, NY, along with several nieces and nephews, and Toms special friend Beverly Halstead of Troy, PA. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his son Thomas A. Mitchell, III, his daughter Debra Jo Coffey, and his sister Polly A. Barnes.
