Market St. Pottsville, PA 17901 622-7888 Theresa Yakimo, 75, of Pottsville, went to be with Our Lord on Tuesday Jan 9, 2007, who, supported by her family, fought a long battle with dignity and courage and was an inspiration to all her family and friends. Born in St. Clair on October 21, 1931, she was the daughter of Michael and Helen (Gutt) Ketrick. A 1949 graduate of Blythe Township High School, she was employed for many years as a drapery consultant for Pomeroy's Department Store. Mrs. Yakimo was also a manager for Golin's Fabric Store in the Cressona and Renninger's Market locations for many years before retiring. She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven. Mrs. Yakimo served for 13 years as president, vice president and treasurer of S.C.O.O.P. (Senior Citizen Organization of Pottsville). As an officer, she organized many trips for the club. Included were Spirit of Philadelphia; Memphis, TN; Myrtle Beach, SC; Mystic, Connecticut; various dinner theaters, and monthly trips to Atlantic City. Additionally, she organized the organizations annual summer picnics and Thanksgiving and Christmas parties. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Joseph and Michael Ketrick. Surviving are: her son, Allen J. Yakimo (Pottsville), husband of Kathleen Yakimo; daughters, Carol L. Yakimo (Ellenton, FL), fianc矯f Thomas Santoro; Elaine M. Smith (Ohio), wife of Robert Smith; two granddaughters, Kyrston Strauch and Francine Lynch; two grandsons, Matthew Yakimo and Brian Fuller; great grandson, Tyler Yakimo; a brother, Anthony Ketrick, husband of Maureen (Oreland, PA); a sister, Mary Haffey (Shawnee, OK); aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., 6th & W. Market St., Pottsville is handling the arrangements. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be in the form of donations to the American Cancer Society, Schuylkill Unit, 16 N. 4th St., Minersville, PA 17954 or Pinnacle Health Hospice, 1 Norwegian Plaza, Pottsville, PA 17901. A private celebration of life service will be held at the convenience of the family.
