Theodore L. Ted" Young

TROY- Theodore (Ted) L. Young of Troy, PA passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Troy Community Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Westlake Young and stepchildren Katrina Westlake and Laura Wamsley of Troy, his former wife Marianne Oliver of Coronado, CA and four daughters, Karen Vogler, Corning, Linda Young-Miller, Horseheads, Kathy Rose, San Diego, CA, and Sheila Young-Pell, Charlottesville, VA, seven grandchildren and three step grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Ted was a supervisor at Sylvania Electric for over 20 years, a building and grounds assistant for K-Mart, Sayre, and managed apartment complexes in both Sayre and Elmira. Born August 6, 1925 in Ebensburg, PA, he was the son of the late Otto and Gertrude Young. A graduate of Troy High School, Ted was a proud WWII Marine Corp veteran. Active in the community, he was a member of the Troy American Legion, Post 49, the Troy VFW, Post 8675, the Troy Lion's Club, and the former Troy Drum and Bugle Corp. An avid outdoorsman, he was a founding member of the Troy Rod and Gun Club and a founding and honorary member of the Armenia Mountain Ponderosa Club. Arrangements are through the Vickery Funeral Home, 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA 16947. There will be no calling hours. Memorial service and interment are at the convenience of the family.
