PLAINS TWP.- Theodore B. Dennis, Sr., 93, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012, at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township. Ted was a guest a Golden Living – Summit for the last 18 months. Born on August 12, 1919, he was a son of the late Adelbert and Dora (Burnett) Dennis. He was a graduate of Meyers High School and attended Wilkes College. Theodore was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Prior to retiring in 1989, he was employed as a expert machinist by Nicholson Manufacturing for 52 years where they considered him invaluable. Ted developed several inventions used by Nicholson Manufacturing and also created several inventions in his spare time. Ted was a great poetry and short story writer. His works over the years brought great happiness to many. He also had a great sense of humor and always an active mind. Ted also had a great love for family. He recently had a discussion with Congressman Lou Bartletta and his aide on how social security could be reconstructed and saved for future generations. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Bessie L. Miller, who passed away January 25, 2009; brother, Raymond Dennis; sisters Mildred Thomas and Marjorie Buckingham. Surviving are his daughter Linda Gower and her husband Edward of Rhinebeck, NY; son, Theodore B. Dennis, Jr. and his wife Ellen of Larksville; grandchildren Edward Gower, Jennifer White, Allison Sulinsky, Dr. Sara Gower, Julie Dennis, Theodore J. Dennis and Rebecca Dennis; great-grandchildren Jonathan White, Christopher White, Kaleigh White, Lauren Gower, Matthew Gower, Emma Gower, Megan Sulinsky and Andrew Sulinsky; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on 1:00 PM Tuesday at Kniffen O’Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA with Reverend Anne M. Emery officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from noon till 1:00PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
