Thelma S. (Swank) Clemens

NEW COLUMBIA - Thelma S. (Swank) Clemens, 94, died Saturday, September 06, 2014 at the Gatehouse, Williamsport. She was born on July 06, 1920 in Sunbury and was the daughter of the late William and Annie (Bastress) Swank. On November 28, 1940, Thelma married the late Herman E. Clemens and they celebrated 53 years of marriage together until his death on December 23, 1993. Thelma was a former member of the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Milton. She had many interest and hobbies including; trail riding with her horse until she was 80 years old, playing cards, dominos, cooking, baking, helping those in need but most of all she loved spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren. She had many jobs over the years including; working on the family farm, Westinghouse, driving school bus, serving kids in the school cafeteria and being a part owner with her husband in a trucking company, a mobile home park, a car lot and auto action. Thelma is survived by; one son; Randall L. Clemens of New Columbia, two daughters; Eileen F. Forrey of Milton and Carol A. Kerstetter of Milton, four grandchildren; Jeffery Forrey, Kelly Hower, Corby Hattler and Toby Clemens, four great grandchildren; Brock Hower, Lance Hower, McKay Forrey and Meredith Forrey, one brother and sister-in-law; Walter and Dorothy Mea Swank of Northumberland and one sister-in-law; Maxine Zettlemoyer of Milton. In addition to her parents and husband, Thelma was preceded in death by two brothers; Leroy and Lamar and one sister; Melvinia. A public viewing will be held 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at The Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton, PA 17847 followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m. with her grandson, the Reverend Jeffrey Forrey and the Reverend John E. Lee officiating.
