Thelma L. (Henze) Lehr

YORK – Thelma L. (Henze) Lehr, 95, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at Manor Care North. She was the wife of the late E. Sargent “Sarge” Lehr. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with The Rev. Curtis R. Weber officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Born January 26, 1919 in York a daughter of the late Harry J. and Mary L. (Wascher) Henze, she was a graduate of William Penn Senior High School. Mrs. Lehr had worked at Bon-Ton Dept. Store and the former Jack’s and Wiest Dept. Stores. She was a charter member of Hayshire United Church of Christ, enjoyed playing bridge, and was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Mrs. Lehr is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. and husband Richard Knight of York; a son, Gregory A. and wife Jacqueline Lehr of Goshen, IN; five grandchildren, Tracy Bogaczyk, Jamie Minnich, Troy Lehr, Kim Castetter, and Jennifer Marlow; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Henze of West York; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and Robert Henze. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hayshire UCC, 100 Haybrook Dr., York, PA 17402.
