Thelma G. Pyle Plunkett

YORK – Thelma G. Pyle Plunkett, 89, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Altoona Regional Hospital. She was the wife of the late B. Ralph Pyle and the late Rudolf C. Plunkett. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 28, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Pastor Kermit Minnich of West Side Baptist Church officiating. A viewing will be from 1-2:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Born July 12, 1923 in Jonesville, VA; a daughter of the late Albert Lee and Sarah (Knowles) Casteel, she had worked at Keystone Weaving Mill. Mrs. Plunkett grew up in Kingsport, TN and then moved to York where she had lived for many years. Most recently she lived at Autumn House East for six years before moving to Altoona in March. Thelma enjoyed sewing, traveling, and making crafts. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mrs. Plunkett is survived by a daughter, Linda and husband Frank Waldon of Three Springs, PA; a stepdaughter, Lisa and husband Anthony Zumpano of Whitesboro, NY; a grandson, Steven and wife Robin Waldon of York and their children, Steven Jr. and Matthew Waldon of York and Aaron Waldon of Glen Rock; and three step grandchildren, Gabrielle, Anthony Jr. and Lilly Zumpano all of NY; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters who had lived in Kingsport.
