Thelma A. Keister

POTTSVILLE- Thelma A. Keister, 82, of Seltzer, passed away Wednesday at Schuylkill Medical Center, South Jackson Street, Pottsville. Born in Seltzer on November 17, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Martha Kreiger Helman. Thelma was a 1945 graduate of Pottsville High School. Thelma worked as a secretary for many years at several businesses. She worked for Reading Hospital, then Children and Youth, Pottsville, before working for the government at Riker's Island, New York and in Paris, France. She retired in 1953 from Indiantown Gap. Thelma was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. She was a life member of the Association of the United States Army. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Keister, Jr., who passed away in 1960; her two brothers, Glenwood and Russell Helman. She is survived by her brother, Edward Helman, husband of Joan, of Seltzer; several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be held at Schlitzer-Allen-Pugh Funeral Home, Inc., Pottsville. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, where she will be buried with her husband, Michael. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 3rd and West Arch Streets, Pottsville, PA 17901.
