Thane J. Fake

WESTMINSTER, MD- Thane J. Fake, 46 died Thursday, September 13, 2018 at his residence. A celebration of life service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Union Lutheran Church, 408 West Market Street in York, with visitation from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The Reverend Joel S.B. Folkemer and Pastor Cynthia Baxter will be officiating at the service. A funeral cortege will leave Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 to process to Prospect Hill Cemetery for interment. Mr. Fake was born in York, on May 10, 1972 the son of Ray E. Fake of Owings Mills, MD and the late Stephanie L. (Mohr) Fake. He was an Emergency Management Specialist at the United States Department of Justice, having served the Department for 18 years. Mr. Fake received a B.S. in Public Service from The Penn State University in 1998. On his birthday in 1999 he received a Presidential Appointment as Staff Assistant to Attorney General, Janet Reno. Mr. Fake also served as a Political Affairs Intern as well as a Presidential Correspondence Intern. He was a volunteer for the Clinton/Gore campaigns in 1992 and 1996. While at Penn State he was President and Treasurer of the Penn State York Student Government Association and a member of the Council of Commonwealth Student Governments. Mr. Fake was a member of The Penn State University Alumni Association, The Penn State University Alumni Admissions Volunteer Program, The Penn State University Political Science Mentorship Program, The Penn State University Liberal Arts Alumni Mentoring Program, and the Nation’s Capital Jaguar Owners Club. He enjoyed gardening with his father, mentoring young people, do-it-yourself projects, attending Penn State athletic events, and his Jaguars. Mr. Fake leaves his father, Ray Fake of Owings Mills, Md., his brother Joshua Fake of Catonsville, Md., an uncle Ronald Fake of Harrisburg, Pa, an aunt Linda Fake of Hellam, Pa., an uncle George Mohr of Glen Burnie, Md., and cousins Brian Fake of Hellam, Pa., Kobe Fake of Hellam, Pa., Delaney Mohr of Rosswell, Ga, Sgt. Matthew Mohr, USMC., Shannon Cooper of Arizona, and Ronald Fake, Jr. of Harrisburg.
