YORK- Terry N. Warner, 82, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his home. He was the husband of Mary E. (Bortner) Warner to whom he was married 57 years. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, July 13, 2018 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. A viewing will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the service. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born April 20, 1936 in Saginaw, PA, Terry was a son to the late Nevin E. and Flossie M. (Knaub) Warner. He graduated from Manchester High School, Class of 1954. Terry went on for two years, taking classes and serving a four year apprenticeship to become a sheet metal mechanic. He also took the necessary courses to complete his real estate license. Terry worked as a sheet metal mechanic for over 20 years at numerous places, including CC Kottcamp & Son, Teledyne Readco, Borg Warner and Specialty Sheet Metal. He also sold real estate for many years. Mr. Warner served our country for four years in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Itazuki Air Force Base in Japan, where his commanding officer was Col. Harold F. “Ted” Bare of Mt. Wolf, West Manchester Twp. Terry spent his last two years in the military pitching baseball, touring the far east, pitching against the Army, Navy, Marines, and other Air Force teams. Mr. Warner was a member of Saginaw United Methodist Church, the Viking Athletic Association, PA Association of Realtors, International Sheet Metal Workers Union, Dover Fish & Game, Starview Sportsman Club, and the PA Sherriff’s Association. Terry was accredited for saving a 14-year-old boy’s life in Saginaw when he was 15 and made the front page of the paper in January 1952. His favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing. He was always there for anyone in need of help. Terry was a family man and loved his wife, children, and grandchildren very much. In addition to his wife, Mary, Mr. Warner is survived by a son, Scott Warner (Kristi); a daughter, Michelle Wolfe (Steve); three grandchildren, Erica Riley (Travis), Jessica Ottemiller (Zeke), and David Wolfe; a great granddaughter, Callie; a sister, Shirley Ruppert (Russell), and a sister-in-law, Johanna Warner. Memorial contributions may be made to Saginaw Community United Methodist Church, 860 Market St., Mt. Wolf, PA 17347.
