YORK – Teresa A. (Kimball) Smith, 58, died Friday, September 9, 2011 at her home. She was the loving wife of Michael J. Smith. The couple was married October 2, 2004. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 16 at 4 PM at Church of the Open Door, 8 Carlisle Court, York. A visitation will be held from 3-4 PM Friday at the Church. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Teresa was born May 29, 1953 in Wellsboro. She was a daughter of the late Earl Kimball and Phyllis (Ingerick) Kimball. She was extremely devoted to her job at Verizon where she worked as a storekeeper for 15 years. Teresa enjoyed cooking and spending time in her garden, gardening nearly every day. She enjoyed making wine at her parent’s home in Erie. Teresa loved dancing and traveling. She especially enjoyed trips with her husband Mike to Ocean City, Mexico, the British Virgin Islands. She was also a blood donor. Teresa loved her friends and family and was especially devoted to her children and grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the fifth floor nurses at York hospital who helped take care of Teresa. In addition to her mother and husband Teresa is survived by: three sons, Blaine L. Witmer and wife Marcy of Manchester, Lance M. Witmer of York and Jared D. Witmer and wife Carmen of Dover; one step-son, Sean Smith of York; two step-daughters, Alexis Miller and husband Chris of York and Danielle Smith of York; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Dennis Kimball and wife Diane of Spring Grove and Bruce Kimball and wife Chi of Fairfield. In memory of Teresa, a memorial contribution may be made to Visiting Nurse Associations of America, Attn: Finance, 900 19th Street NW, Suite 200, Washington D.C. 20006.
