YORK-Tedd A. 'Pappy' Keefer, Sr., 95, died Friday, October 25, 2013 at Lebanon VA Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Ida Mae (Smith) Keefer. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a viewing from 1-2 p.m. Certified Celebrant Jessica Smith will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery with full military honors provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Keefer was born in York on February 26, 1918, the son of the late James S. and Mary Ann Lillie (Knaub) Keefer. He was the former owner of Ted’s Place, two confectionary stores on West and Smith Streets in York. He also worked as a Fireman for York City for many years. Mr. Keefer was a member of Hanover American Legion post 14, Life member of Hanover VFW post 2506, Loyal Order of Moose, McSherrystown, Elks Club, Wildwood, NJ, Disables American Veterans, and was a 74 year member of 12th Ward Political Club in York. He served in the US Army in WWII, where he received two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart for his service. Mr. Keefer leaves two sons, Tedd A. Keefer, Jr., of York and Tom W. Keefer and his wife Margie of Dallastown; a daughter, Terri M. Wolf and her husband, Travis of York; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Also two good friends, Joanne and Joyce of York and his beloved dog, Buddy. Memorial Contributions may be made to Adams County SPCA, 11 Goldenville Rd., Gettysburg, PA 17325.
