Sylvia Lillian (Sedell) Wilson, 94, of Leona, PA, entered her eternal rest on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at her home. She was born in Manhattan, NY, on June 19, 1916, daughter of the late Harry William and LuElla Sedell. She married Martin Poeltl in 1938 and moved to Troy, PA in 1943. After Martin passed away in 1958, she later married Andrew Carlton Wilson, a 33rd Degree Mason who was deceased in 1985. Her liberal arts education earned at City College, New York City, New York, led her to the Pennsylvania Federation of Music Clubs where she worked closely with young musicians in the area serving in various departments, retiring after 25 years as the Vise President of the North East Region. She then went to work with her husband in the Troy Marble and Granite memorial business. Sylvia became editor of the Bradford County Historical Societys publication The Settler in 1968 and was also curator for their museum for 23 years, resigning to help develop the Troy Heritage Museum. Her interest in Oil Painting as a hobby led her to the Fine Arts Council of Troy where she served as secretary for many years exhibiting her artwork with that organization throughout Bradford County. Her Association with Andaste Archaeological Chapter 5 was ongoing for 30 years where she served as secretary and treasurer securing network speaker for monthly meetings. She was a 50-year plus member of the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, serving as Deacon, Elder, and member of the church choir. Her palm crosses made for the church congregation at Easter time overflowed to the Troy Community Hospital will be remembered. She also enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Corey Creeks womens golf club. The Thursday Study Club was another interest she enjoyed where she was a past president and chairperson of the clubs memory book for many years. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter #76. Family members include her daughter Sylvia Lea (Ronald) Frymire, Cogan Station, PA, a stepson Carlton James (Mary) Wilson, Newtown, CT, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, and a nephew David (Linda) Zoffer also of Chapel Hill, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, her brother Avery Sedell, and her sister Ethel Zoffer Metz. Family and friends are welcome to call from 10:00-11:00 AM on Monday, January 24, 2011 at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Sylvias life will be held at 11:00 AM on January 24th at the funeral home with Rev. Garry Zuber officiating. Burial will follow the service in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Sylvias memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Troy, 212 West Main Street, Troy, PA 16947.
