Sylvia A. (Terry) Taughinbaugh

York—Sylvia A. (Terry) Taughinbaugh, 75, died Monday, January 2, 2012 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Donald R. Taughinbaugh. The couple celebrated 55 years of marriage on September 8, 2011. A Memorial Service will be 2 PM, Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York with Rev. Thomas R. Hoke of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in York officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Born October 6, 1936 in Plattsburg, New York, she was a daughter of the late Earl Terry Sr., and Florence (Adams) Terry. A devoted and caring homemaker, she was also a member of the Sophisticated Ladies Chapter of the Red Hat Society and the Heritage Senior Center in Dover. She volunteered for many years with York County Special Olympics as a figure skating coach and helped train many athletes including, Loretta Claiborne. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Taughinbaugh is also survived by two daughters, Terry A. Thom and husband, Richard of Maui, HI and Angela R. Diamond and husband, William of Idaho Springs, CO; one son, David J. Taughinbaugh of York, 5 grandchildren, two sisters, Carol Keffer of Norristown and Phyllis Smith of TX and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Terry and a brother, Earl Terry Jr. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to York County Special Olympics, P.O.
