Sylvia A. (Caldas) Bercher

POTTSVILLE- Sylvia A. (Caldas) Bercher, 79, of Pottsville, PA passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Francis J. Bercher. The couple married June 15, 1957 and had 56 happy years together. Sylvia was born on October 1, 1933 in New Philadelphia, PA daughter of the late John and Mary (Ramonko) Caldas. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Sylvia is survived by her husband Francis, her son Joseph F. (Lori) Bercher of Pottsville, her daughters, Donna M. (Rick) McClure of Pottsville and Lisa M. (Jeff) McClure of St. Clair, her grandchildren: Vanessa and Carissa Bercher and Jake and Justin McClure, her great grandson Luke Bercher, her sister Theresa Zelinsky of Whitehall, and several nieces and nephews. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Joseph Caldas, and her sister Marcia Weiss. Family and friends are welcome to call from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at the Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home, Inc. 6th & Market Streets in Pottsville. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 16, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 10th and Mahantongo Streets, Pottsville with Sylvia’s pastor, Rev. David J. Loeper officiating. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
