Red Lion Sylvester "Boss" Rittenhouse, 91, of Windsor Township, died at 8:26 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2007, at Manor Care Health Services - South. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with the Rev. Howard W. Fritz, pastor of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Freysville, officiating. Burial will be in Freysville Union Cemetery. Viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Mr. Rittenhouse was born July 16, 1915, in Windsor Township. He was the son of the late William H. and Mamie (Young) Rittenhouse. He was a life-long farmer, owning and operating his farm only one half mile from where he was born. Farming was his life. Mr. Rittenhouse leaves two brothers, Morris Rittenhouse of Dallastown and Walter Rittenhouse of York; and three sisters, Romaine Ness and Margaret Kohler, both of Dallastown, and Charlotte Yohe of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Harold "Jake", and Melvin Rittenhouse; a sister, Virginia Deitz; and two infant sisters.
